Help Africa Check make election promises harder to break

We've all heard it before. Come election year candidates are not shy of making promises. But how many actually keep them once they make it to the office?

Africa Check is building an African Election Promise Tracker to hold newly-elected presidents to account.

Using statistics, the tool will track the promises made by presidents in four countries - Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, and South Africa - to determine if they have been kept, or broken.

If the president promised to build new schools, the tracker will count the classrooms. Or, say they committed to a decrease in maternal mortality, the tracker will count that too.

But they need your help.

To develop the tool, Africa Check is running a crowdfunding campaign to raise $20,000 or R260,000 by 30 November 2017. So far, with 11 days to go, they are sill around $18,000 short.
