Science has launched new a fund to support data driven science reporting

Thanks to a generous donor, Science’s news team has set up a dedicated fund to support ambitious projects in investigative reporting and data journalism.

"We’re hoping to support the kind of journalism projects that beat reporters rarely get to: the untold stories behind that news that can only be teased out from documents, datasets, and intensive reporting. These stories are labor-intensive and high-risk, which is why we’ve set up a dedicated fund to support them," Tim Appenzeller, Science's News Editor, explained.

They’re eager to tell stories about the scientific community and its practices, the influence of money and politics in science, key science-related policy debates, and more — the only firm requirement is that science or scientists play a key role in the story.

Journalists with a strong track record of high-impact reporting are encouraged to submit proposals.
