Zenodo is a research data repository. Hosting files up to 50GB, its a great resource for journalists looking to utilise different types of open access research data.
The tool offers a simple search bar interface to as a starting point, and further filter options once you've inputted your keywords.
For example, after searching for data related to crime, we can then narrow down our results to only display datasets that are open access.

In addition, datasets can be found by perusing through the communities section. Here, users create and curate areas that collect data related to a particular topic or research area.

Coding journalists can also leverage the tool's OAI-PMH API, which allow you to harvest the entire repository as well as selectively harvest specific communities.
